Sète, its history, its culture

The city of Sète is brimming with places to discover and admire. Whatever your desires and expectations, you won't be disappointed.

Located in the very center on the canal, everything is a short stroll. The "Venice of Languedoc" is structured around this waterway that runs through it.

Continue your walk passing the port to the Théâtre de la Mer (Sea Theatre), which offers a remarkable view and hosts numerous cultural events.

Near this theatre, you'll find the Cimetière Marin (Marine Cemetery), which also offers a unique visit and viewpoint. Here you can admire the tomb of Paul Valéry, a writer who left his mark on the city's history.

At the summit of Mont Saint Clair

Dominating the city, Mont Saint-Clair is another iconic landmark, not to be missed during a stay in Sète. From its 175-meter summit, it offers breathtaking panoramic views of the surrounding area. You can reach it on foot, by bus, or by car.

There you will discover, among other things, Les Pierres Blanches, a wooded area perfect for pleasant walks, as well as the Belvedere, from which the view will captivate you. The Notre-Dame de la Salette chapel will also be part of your visit.

The La Pointe Courte district

You will be captivated by the unique atmosphere of Pointe Courte. An iconic fishing district of Sète, it is a true village within the town.

You'll enjoy strolling through its narrow streets and discovering the view it offers of the Étang de Thau. Let yourself be carried away by its unique history!

The Saint-Louis Lighthouse

At the entrance to the Port of Sète stands the Saint-Louis Lighthouse. Climb the 126 steps of this 1680 building, rebuilt after the Second World War, and admire the breathtaking view it offers of the city and the sea. It is open from April to September.

On the beaches of Sète

Treat yourself to a few moments of relaxation on the beautiful beaches of Sète. Nearly 12km of beaches stretch all the way to Marseillan, offering plenty of space to unwind, swim, and have fun.

For example, you can visit Plage des Quilles, Plage de la Corniche, Plage du Lazaret, Plage de la Fontaine, Plage de la Baleine…

All the beaches are served by buses, and a bus stop is located very close to your apartment.
